Dazzling color and a bird in flight serve as the central imagery in Miguel Valverde Castillo’s mural, "El brillo del vuelo" (The Brilliance of Flight). Using a refined technique, Valverde has assembled thousands of cut fragments into a mosaic that sweeps across the wall with vibrant energy. Rooted in the natural world, the work depicts a bird’s transformation as it traverses various habitats. Its body emerges from the water and moves through the vegetation toward its celestial destination—the sparkling sun. "El brillo del vuelo" also represents the cyclical nature of life; the sun’s rays appear to morph into the bird’s tail feathers, thereby echoing the sacred journey. In Valverde’s work, the bird’s flight symbolizes an indomitable spirit, boundless imagination, and glorious transformation. It acknowledges that the human experience is grounded in both the elemental and the ethereal. Valverde reminds us that, through dreams and imagination, we too can embark on a sacred journey toward light, freedom, and knowledge.
